 TAFCS Professional of the Year
The Professional
of the Year award is the highest honor given by the state
association each year and was initiated by TAFCS. Members
of any professional section or division are eligible. The
recipient should have made major contributions to the family
and consumer sciences profession, displayed leadership abilities,
been active in the association and be highly respected by
his/her peers.

Teacher of the Year
An award to recognize outstanding teachers at elementary
and secondary levels. Nominees are evaluated on exemplary programs
and/or teaching methods and techniques in family and consumer
sciences; development and implementation of family and consumer
science concepts and principles; impact of program and teaching
on individuals, families and/or communities; integration of
family and consumer sciences subjects with other related disciplines;
and teacher effectiveness in stimulating student growth in
and out of the classroom.

Lights for Families Award
We
need nominees for the Lights for Families Awards 2008! Lights
for Families is a collaborative project of TAFCS and various
sponsoring power companies. “Lights for Families” recognizes
individuals who are valuable “lights” to the families
that they reach within their own communities. Together, we
are LIGHTING THE WAY for Texas families!

TAFCS Leader of the Year Award
We
need nominees for TAFCS Leader of the Year 2008!
Initiated by AAFCS, this award is designed to identify and
honor family and consumer sciences professionals who have
made significant contributions to the field through their
involvement with AAFCS.

TAFCS New Achiever Award
We need
nominees for TAFCS New Achiever of the Year 2008! This
award is designed to recognize family and consumer science
professionals who have potential for achieving significant
accomplishments in family and consumer sciences; promote
active association participation of young family and consumer
science professionals; foster professional development through
mentoring and nurturing of young individuals; promote networking
among professional groups; and expand avenues for members
to hold national office and participate in national programs
and activities. Nominees must be age 35 or younger, OR have
at least three years of service to the field, but no more
than eight years of service to the field.

TAFCS Friend of the Family Award
The Friend
of the Family Award is to recognize an individual, agency,
corporation, foundation or other organizations whose contributions
are significant to improvement of home and family life. These
contributions should have been made within the past three years.
